Our Mestres
We are fortunate to have two great Mestres, as teachers of Filhos de Angola, both from Salvador, Bahia, the home of Capoeira.
Mestre Laercio has made it his life's work to spread the knowledge and practice of Capoeira Angola and Afro-Brazilian dance forms across the world.
He directs groups in Berlin, Valencia, Bristol and Brighton and gives workshops as far afield as Korea and Siberia.
He has been teaching in Brighton since 1997, passing his knowledge of Capoeira Angola, with great energy, humour and style.
Mestre Laercio is an expert Capoeira Master;a dancer, joker,a clown and a martial artist not to be messed with.
Mestre Roberval holds the group in Salvador and is respected as one of the true original artists of Capoeira Angola.
He has formed two phenomenal contra-mestres, "Black Cat" ( Gato Preto) and "Big Foot" (Pezao). He has also made several excellent CDs of Capoeira Angola music.
He directs groups in Stockholm and Barcelona and now tours regularly, sharing his musicianship, expertise and unique style in this beautiful art-form. We are lucky to host him every year in brighton.
